Welcome to the galleries - a disjointed smattering of photos I've taken over the years.  Here you'll find large collections of photos, where I've chosen to show more rather than less.  Many photo sites show only a few, usually small, images, but I've chosen to go whole-hog and overwhelm you with too much to see.  I've also included many high-resolution images and made the images scale to fit your browser window.  This will sometimes make the images appear rough or aliased, but if you have a large monitor or download the images, the extra resolution is worth it.

Each gallery and their image pages are generated automatically by a script written in Python (www.python.org).  I used to use Microsoft tools to make pages, but the results were horrible.  The HTML was filled with a ridiculous amount of worthless Microsoft junk, the formatting was not consistent across different browsers, and the pages were too difficult to maintain.  Python solves all of these problems, and the entire site can be generated in about 10 minutes (It takes less than a minute if the images are not re-processed from the originals).  Using Python also lets me extract camera data from each photo, so the type of lens, focal length, shutter speed, aperture, and other settings can be listed along with each photo.

Most photos were taken with a Nikon D70, some were with a Fuji FinePix 4700, and the latest are from an amazing Nikon D3.  Originals are typically 1600x1200 or 3000x2000 pixels.  Prints up to 13”x19” are available for a small fee.  If you don’t know me, write to ‘photos’ at photosphere.us with the subject exactly “photosphere images”.

For the curious: here’s a description of my Photo Gear.
